    On July 25, a carcass of a whale shark was found in Vinisitahan, Donsol, Sorsogon, believed to have died more than a month already before it was discovered. It is estimated to weigh 8 metric tons and measures 10 meters long

    In Tigkiw na Saday jar burial site, a 45-minute hike from Barangay Escuala, Casiguran, saw eight (8) burial jars excavated from April 22 to May 21 and October 18. the team from the national Museum came ipon large, circular, dome-shaped flat bottomoed stone covers made of volcanic tuff with an approximate weight of 50 to 60 kilograms.

    The Real Astillero de Bagatao or Royal Astillero of Bagatao was established by Governor General Juan de Silva in Calaguimi, Magallanes. A shipyard that where warships and other small sea vessels were built and later on sailed to Mexico and sold for huge profit. Some of the known galleons built here are the San Felipe and the Santiago used in the battles at Playa Honda in Zambales against the Dutch around 1616-167.
