The anticipation of the Sorsoganons for the upcoming Kasanggayahan 2019 is already felt throughout the province as the festivity is fast approaching.

The Provincial Government together with the Kasanggayahan Foundation Inc., Local Government Units and the different sectors of the community are in full swing of its preparation for the highly anticipated event in the Province of Sorsogon.

The celebration, which is now on its 45^th year, is set to kick off on October 1 and culminate on the 31^st. This year’s Kasanggayahan will be celebrated for the whole month of October with, “KADA SORSOGANON, MAGDANON” as its festival theme. It incorporated Gov. Chiz Escudero’s idea of Sorsoganon’s camaraderie and resiliency.

On the opening day will be the grand Unity Parade participated by all municipalities and city. In the evening, there will be a Pyro Musical show at the Rompeolas to mark the first day of the month-long festival.

Gov. Chiz Escudero, in a meeting with the Kasanggayahan Foundation Inc., said that this year’s Kasanggayahan will be celebrating a lot of milestones in the history of Sorsogon. The province will be celebrating the 450^th Anniversary of the 1^st Mass in Commemorating the Beginning of Christianity in the Island of Luzon, the 125^th Anniversary of the Sorsogon Province, the 25^th Anniversary of the KFI and the 45^th Anniversary of the Kasanggayahan Festival since it was first celebrated in 1974.

Some of the highlights of this year’s Kasanggayahan will be the unveiling of the new Ecclesiastical Marker in Magallanes, Sorsogon where the first mass in Luzon was conducted by the Spanish priests 450 years ago. Sorsogon will also make an official attempt to get a Guinness World Record for our very own “Pantomina sa Tinampo” as the Largest Filipino Folk Dance. Other highlights will be the Miss Kasanggayahan 2019 and the Street Dance and Float Competition that will be participated by the fifteen LGUs.

These events are clear manifestation of the vibrancy of the Sorsoganon culture and tradition as they level up the camaraderie and creativity to its new heights.

There will also be some sporting events throughout the festival like the National Motocross, Boxing Competition, Laro ng Lahi, Gov. Chiz’ 1^st Fooball Tournament, Bulusan Eco Trail, 1^st Enduro Lite Challenge, Badminton Tournament,Caresma Cup, National Bancarerahan 2019 and Lunad sa Balod 2019.

To further showcase the colourful culture and arts of the Sorsoganons, there will be week-long Kasanggayahan Art Fest, Art Contest, Jeepney Painting Contest, Culinary Competition, Parade of Lights,  8^th Little Miss Kasanggayahan, Agri-Tourism Trade Expo and the Cultural Nights.

Meanwhile, there will also be a month-long October Fest sponsored by San Miguel Corporation. For the fun-loving Sorsoganons, there will also be Kasanggayahan Fun and Rides all the nights of October, Swell Fest at Lola Sayong, Hip-Hop Dance Competition, Colour Run, Ginuman Fest, Zumba Kasanggayahan and Kpop Dream.

Kasanggayahan 2019 will be a remarkable one in Sorsogon History for it will awaken the love of the Sorsoganons for its own culture and tradition and at the same time adapting to the changes created by technology. This whole month festivity will be documented and promoted not only for Sorsoganons but also for the whole world to see.
